Platinum/palladium printing is a manual, alternative photographic process using noble metals that produces continuous-tone monochrome fine art prints with exceptional archival longevity and a rich, matte tonal scale. The process requires coating 100% cotton paper with a light-sensitive chemical mixture, contact printing a negative under ultraviolet light, and clearing the print through multiple chemical baths.
Permanence: Because the metal particles embed directly into the paper fibers rather than resting on top in a gelatin layer, properly cleared prints can last 1,000 years or more without fading.
