What I Use
Sony A7RV - This is my main photography camera and my B roll video camera. I have been having an on again off again affair with Sony cameras for about 5 years now. Mostly the cost and the weight were the two big issues for me, but earlier this year the weight became a problem due to a heart issue I was having that seems to be resolving through careful management. So now that the weight issues seem to be mitigating I find myself shooting a Sony again. All digital cameras these days are more than capable so it really doesn't matter what you shoot with. The new A7RVI seems to have a lot of the quality of life features it would be nice to have like 10 name-able memory channels and illuminated buttons, but I have ABSOLUTELY no use for a stacked sensor and a bigger different battery and for $4500 (!) I'll pass for now. The A7RV is really a great camera. I love the 4D screen and it's always delivered the goods, and now at $3300 on sale seems like a bargain in comparison.
Sony A7CII - This is my main video camera, my back up photography camera and my EDC camera with small prime lenses.
Sony FE 20-70mm F4 G - This is my main photography lens. It's fantastically sharp, somewhat small and comparatively lightweight.
Tamron 70-300mm F4.5-6.3 Di III RXD - For what I need a telephoto lens for this is perfect. Not very fast but lightweight. And it's a complete bargain at $399 these days. So with only 2 lenses I go from 20-300mm with full frame coverage.
Tamron 35mm F2.8 Di III OSD - This is my main video lens for use on my A7CII. It's lightweight, weather sealed, sharp and very inexpensive at $249. It is larger than it should be though.
EDC Primes
Tamron 20mm F2.8 Di III OSD - Lightweight inexpensive sharp 20mm wide angle for EDC.
Zeiss 35mm F2.8 - My most used EDC lens. Very sharp with character. Lack of weather sealing is a downside, but the size and weight make it a winner.
Zeiss 55mm F1.8 - Incredible sharp. Missing weather sealing. Can be had for half the price if you look around and a bargain if you find one new for under $600.
Sigma 90mmF 2.8 - Great little telephoto for a full Fram camera. Excellent build, made in Japan, and sharp with character. pairs well with the A7CII.
